Wang Junguang aims at Prajanchai, targeting kickboxing inexperience at The Inner Circle 35 in Bangkok.
Combat sports veteran Wang Junguang is set to face reigning ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Champion Prajanchai Pongsuphan PK in a high-stakes strawweight kickboxing main event.
The showdown takes place on Friday, October 16, streaming live from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, exclusively for members of The Inner Circle digital platform.
Wang is targeting what he perceives as a thinner area of experience in his opponent, according to information published by bjpenn.
Wang Junguang returns after nearly six years away
The Chinese striker known as Golden Boy returns to action after a nearly six-year absence from the promotion, holding a professional record of 30 wins and 7 losses.
His promotional debut back in 2019 featured a memorable first-round technical knockout against Federico Roma, which quickly earned him a world title opportunity.
That initial championship bout ended in a decision victory for Sam-A Gaiyanghadao, setting the stage for Wang to chase another major promotional milestone.
Prajanchai brings massive combat sports experience
His upcoming opponent enters the ring with an astonishing career record of 344 wins and 53 losses across multiple disciplines including boxing and Muay Thai.
Prajanchai Pongsuphan PK is a former ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Champion who is returning from a year-long hiatus following a loss to Jonathan Di Bella and subsequent surgery.
Wang has studied the Bangkok native closely, acknowledging his opponent's fluid blend of striking styles, great rhythm, and strong overall control.
Analyzing the kickboxing rules advantage
While respecting his opponent's extensive background, the Yao Fight Team product believes his lifelong dedication to pure kickboxing rules will be the deciding factor.
Wang points out that despite his opponent's high activity level across various combat sports, his specific experience under strict kickboxing rules remains relatively limited.
For Wang, securing a victory after such a long layoff will prove to the entire division that he still belongs firmly at the elite level of competition.
Proving elite status in the strawweight division
A successful performance on October 16 would send a resounding message to the rest of the strawweight roster that his competitive edge remains fully sharp.
The returning challenger emphasizes that his lifetime of competing exclusively under kickboxing rules serves as the absolute foundation for his strategy.
By overcoming the decorated champion, Wang aims to demonstrate that time away from the organization has done nothing to diminish his championship aspirations.
