Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani challenges northern opposition politicians to present their records ahead of 2027.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has challenged opposition politicians seeking to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027 to present their official records. Speaking at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, Sani insisted that northern origin alone is insufficient to earn voters support during the upcoming political cycle.
The event marked the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag off, where Sani expressed strong confidence that northern voters would repay Tinubu with votes. He cited the administration's specific interventions in infrastructure, security, education, healthcare, and agriculture as concrete evidence of national performance, according to information published by The Sun Nigeria.
Sani criticized opposing political factions, stating that they are relying heavily on artificial intelligence generated content rather than running substantive campaigns. He urged the electorate to judge political contenders strictly by their track records rather than depending on regional identity.
Uba Sani Highlights Infrastructure and Road Projects
Recalling President Bola Tinubu visiting the volatile Birnin Gwari Local Government Area on December 22, 2022, Sani noted the historical neglect of regional transport routes. Tinubu had previously promised to reconstruct the abandoned 123 kilometer Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road and address severe regional insecurity.
According to Sani, the federal administration released 170 billion Naira to the road contractor, successfully transforming the corridor. He stated that citizens can now travel safely without police escorts, marking a major milestone in regional mobility and economic revival.
Sani also detailed progress on other major transport arteries, including the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway. The 740 billion Naira project has reached 95 percent completion on the referenced section, greatly boosting renewed confidence in highway travel across multiple northern states.
Federal Investments in Education and Regional Rail
Addressing educational advancements, Sani highlighted that the North-West region received 84 billion Naira under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), directly benefiting approximately 414,000 students across various tertiary institutions.
Furthermore, 34,000 regional artisans have benefited from federal skills development programs, which include comprehensive training and starter kits. Sani also mentioned that $865 million was approved for the Kaduna metropolitan rail project, with $300 million already released to the contractor.
Security improvements have also allowed the reopening of more than 300 schools and 150 primary healthcare centres across eight local government areas that were previously closed when Sani assumed office in 2023.
