Transcorp Power Plc reports a resilient Q3 2026 performance with improved profit margins despite sector challenges.

Transcorp Power Plc, a key power subsidiary of Transnational Corporation Plc, has released its unaudited financial results for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, showcasing strong operational adaptability.

The company announced a profit before tax of ₦83.1 billion during this period, with the profit before tax margin strengthening to 31.2 per cent from 29.6 per cent in the corresponding period of 2025.

Despite external headwinds affecting the broader energy market, financial stability was maintained, according to information published by The Sun Nigeria.

Financial Results and Revenue Decline Factors

Revenue for the power producer declined by 13.7 per cent to ₦266.1 billion, down from ₦308.5 billion in the previous year, while profit before tax moved to ₦83.1 billion from ₦91.18 billion.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Engr. Peter Ikenga attributed the revenue drop to structural industry bottlenecks, including transmission infrastructure vandalisation and gas supply constraints.

Global supply chain disruptions stemming from the Middle East crisis also caused critical delays in delivering essential turbine parts, restricting overall power evacuation capabilities.

Balance Sheet Strength and Liquidity Growth

Despite operational hurdles, Transcorp Power bolstered its financial position as total assets expanded by 11.7 per cent to reach ₦629.5 billion by the end of September 2026.

Shareholders' funds grew by 8.9 per cent to ₦199.8 billion, while retained earnings experienced an 11.5 per cent increase, closing the period at ₦147.7 billion.

Cash and cash equivalents surged by 365 per cent to ₦10.3 billion, driven by better collections, legacy debt settlements, and expected credit loss reversals.

Leadership Perspective on Operational Resilience

Chief Finance Officer Dr Evans Okpogoro noted that the nine-month financial results highlight strict financial discipline and prudent capital management across operations.

Engr. Peter Ikenga emphasized that the business remains fully committed to operational excellence, efficient power generation, and delivering long-term value to shareholders.

The leadership team continues to collaborate closely with key stakeholders across the power value chain to address wider industry challenges and support national energy needs.
