Coach Rui Moreira assesses Dentil Praia Clube after a thrilling five set victory over Sesc RJ Flamengo in Campo Bom.
Dentil Praia Clube secured a thrilling victory over Sesc RJ Flamengo during the Jogo das Estrelas in Campo Bom, Rio Grande do Sul. The match on Saturday ended 3 sets to 2, with partials of 25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 20-25, and 15-12.
Portuguese coach Rui Moreira expressed satisfaction with the outcome, yet emphasized that the reigning Superliga champions still have room for significant technical and tactical improvement moving forward.
The evaluation comes shortly after a defeat against the same rival in the Copa SuperVôlei final, according to information published by WEBVOLEI.
Overcoming Oscillations and Tactical Discipline
Coach Rui Moreira highlighted the need for greater technical consistency throughout entire matches to avoid dangerous score fluctuations. During both the recent cup final and this weekend clash, Praia opened a 2-0 lead before allowing Flamengo to equalize.
While Flamengo completed the comeback in the previous decision, Praia recovered control in the tie-break this time to win 15-12. Moreira praised this mental recovery, calling it a very positive sign for the squad.
Addressing Service Aggressiveness and Errors
The aggressive serving style remains a core pillar of the team strategy, inherited from the previous season under Rui Moreira. However, the coach acknowledged an excessive number of missed serves against Sesc RJ Flamengo.
The technical staff now aims to find the right balance between high risk and stability. Reducing unforced errors without stripping away the aggressive edge is a primary goal before the official start of the Superliga.
Squad Depth and Tactical Alternatives
During the five sets in Campo Bom, Rui Moreira utilized the tournament format to test multiple starting lineups and tactical formations. The deep roster allows the technical team to maintain three attackers on the net constantly.
This bench strength enables the club to swap players with different characteristics without dropping the overall offensive level. Outside hitter Drussyla exemplified this depth, recovering from a poor start to deliver crucial energy in the fourth and fifth sets.
