Jheovana shines with the law of the ex as Gerdau Minas secures a straight-set victory over Paulistano Barueri.
Gerdau Minas secured their second consecutive win in the Women's Superliga 2026/2027 volleyball tournament by defeating Paulistano Barueri on Friday night, October 23, at the Arena UniBH in Belo Horizonte.
Led by coach Leandro Vissotto, the home team triumphed in three straight sets with partial scores of 25-20, 29-27, and 25-22, accumulating five points in the early standings of the national competition.
For the visiting squad, the setback leaves them without a single point after two consecutive 3-0 defeats, according to information published by WEBVOLEI.
The Law of the Ex in Action at Arena UniBH
The famous law of the ex played a starring role in Belo Horizonte as opposite hitter Jheovana delivered a stellar performance in her first match against her former club, earning the coveted Troféu VivaVôlei.
She tallied 18 points with an impressive 60 percent attacking efficiency, effectively compensating for some offensive inconsistency among her teammates on the wings during the straight-set encounter.
Tactical Breakdown and Player Statistics
Canadian outside hitter Hilary Johnson struggled with just 19 percent efficiency and four points, prompting coach Leandro Vissotto to bring in Maiara Basso during the second set to add five points.
Meanwhile, Paulistano Barueri played without injured athletes like Sassá and Jacke, relying heavily on central blocker Thainá, who led her team with nine attack points, one ace, and two blocks.
Upcoming Matches in the Superliga
Despite a strong second set where they squandered three set points, Paulistano Barueri remains winless and faces a tough challenge next Friday against the defending champions Dentil Praia Clube in Uberlândia.
On the other side, Gerdau Minas will return to their home court on Saturday, October 31, to host Brasília as they look to maintain their winning momentum in the tournament.
