Bears to honor late coach Mike Ditka with a stadium-wide fake mustache giveaway for Thursday night game against Patriots.

The Chicago Bears are paying respect to their late legendary head coach with unique tributes during Thursday night football. Fans attending the matchup at Soldier Field will receive fake mustaches to honor the iconic football figure.

The visiting New England Patriots will face the Bears in this Week 7 clash scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET in Chicago. This emotional event marks the first time the franchise has played a home game since the passing of the beloved coach earlier this month at age 86.

In addition to the stadium-wide giveaway, the team has planned several on-field tributes and commemorative gear to celebrate his remarkable legacy, according to information published by bleache.

Mike Ditka Tributes and Memorabilia

The mustaches are not the only item the Bears are distributing in honor of Mike Ditka on Thursday night. The first 10,000 people to enter Soldier Field will also receive a knit headband inspired by the sweater vests he famously wore on the sideline.

Furthermore, the franchise will feature a special stencil and flag on the field, accompanied by a solemn moment of silence before kickoff. These tributes follow earlier gestures, including helmet decals with his number at Lambeau Field and jersey patches in Atlanta.

Ticket Prices and Matchup Context

The emotional weight surrounding the game and these tributes have significantly driven up ticket prices. According to TickPick data cited by ESPN analyst Field Yates, this Week 7 matchup is tracking to become the most expensive NFL game of the season so far.

On the field, the Chicago Bears enter the contest looking to secure consecutive victories. Quarterback Caleb Williams recently returned from a hamstring injury to lead his squad to a crucial win over the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday.

Legacy of a Football Legend

Mike Ditka built a historic connection with the city of Chicago across both his playing and coaching careers. He began as a tight end in 1961, setting a rookie receiving yards record before helping the team win the 1963 NFL championship.

After playing for the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, he returned to coach the Bears from 1982 through 1992. His legendary tenure was highlighted by seven playoff appearances and a memorable Super Bowl 20 victory against the New England Patriots.
